Fie Paarup (b. 1985) is a Danish designer and artist.
A multidimensional studio that thrives at the intersection of art and design, with a primary focus on the captivating realms of lighting design, ambiance curation, and custom textile craftsmanship.
Paarup's artistic exploration delves into the essence of natural phenomena, perception, and tactile experiences. A profound fascination with the interplay of light and materials finds expression through tangible objects of various scale. Her passion is rooted in unveiling the beauty of the present moment, inviting viewers to embrace a sense of awareness. With a strong commitment to climate, sustainability and mental wellbeing, each project is a testament to her concern for future generations.
Her work involves translating dynamic natural processes into tangible art forms. Through this transformation, colors, spaces, and time itself intertwine, offering a phenomenological tapestry of perception, imagination, emotion, and embodied consciousness.
The very process of creation, characterized by the intuitive and meticulous handwork of processing textiles, steel, and light becomes a canvas for deliberate imperfections and serendipitous deviations—a cornerstone of her creative philosophy. Her methodical yet ever-evolving approach infuses each piece with a sense of depth and authenticity.
Paarup’s practice encompasses a wide range, from textile art, drapery and steel objects to lighting and interior design, each echoing the tactile allure of materials and the mesmerizing dance of light, albeit with a distinct and captivating twist.
Fie Paarup has her academic background from The Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, with a Master degree in Architectural Lighting Design (2018) and a Bachelor degree in Spatial and Furniture Design (2014).
